What is NSWC?

Every year, the No Senior Without Christmas event brings together dedicated volunteers to assemble 400 boxes for the benefit of our community's home-bound, low-income senior citizens. These boxes contain essential household items and an extra dose of holiday cheer, ensuring that our older adults receive the support they need during the festive season.

Founded in 2000, No Senior Without Christmas (NSWC) initially aimed to bring holiday joy to 20 elderly individuals in our local community who were facing hardship. Back then, the gifts consisted of knitted hats, non-perishable foods, and various small household items, which were thoughtfully packed in brown paper bags and personally delivered to their doorsteps by public safety officials.

Over the years, NSWC has experienced remarkable growth. Today, it proudly serves a much larger demographic, reaching out to 400 low-income residents aged sixty or above in Ingham, Clinton, and Eaton counties. The majority of these recipients are homebound and face various challenges. NSWC remains committed to brightening their holiday season by providing essential support and spreading the spirit of compassion throughout our community.

What makes this project particularly unique is its 100% volunteer-operated nature. The dedication and commitment of these volunteers are the driving force behind the success of this event, ensuring that all donated funds are directly utilized to bring it to life, with minimal overhead or indirect costs. Yearly, a remarkable group of volunteers, supported by numerous public safety agencies, come together to deliver the filled boxes to the doorsteps of each recipient. Their invaluable contribution strengthens community relationships, fostering a profound sense of unity and support. Without the unwavering commitment of these volunteers, this program would not be possible. As we continue to grow, it is our hope to attract more volunteers, enabling us to meet the increasing demand and serve the many individuals who find themselves on the waitlist each year.
